The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Eastern Cape has confirmed the death of a third educator following a tragic shooting at Ntabankulu Primary School on Thursday.
The educator died while being transported by ambulance to hospital, bringing the total number of fatalities to three.
Eastern Cape police spokesperson Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana said the suspect, a former teacher at the school, was declared dead at the scene.
According to police, the suspect had been dismissed in 2023 after facing sexual assault charges and was out on bail at the time of the incident.
The shooting has left the school community in shock and deep distress. Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the attack are ongoing.
